This weekend I flew north for my older brother's birthday and was very disappointed to see a mocha cake. MOCHA? Boo. This did not look or sound fun to me. I was hoping for an array of colorful cupcakes, or something with irresistible frosting. Mocha just sounded bitter and boring.
But MY oh MY was I proved wrong!!! This cake from The Prolific Oven was absolutely Fantastic. The icing was a cream-cheese base that had the addictive effect of the best carrot cake frostings around. Furthermore, the sides of the cake were dusted with chocolate-toffee pebbles that lent a multi-layered effect with the consistency and flavors. Finally, the chocolate cake itself that laid patiently beneath this supreme icing with it's fancy flowers and dusted chocolate pebbles, was moist and delicious. MMmmmm. Here's to a great year ahead CJ!

While I'm sorry that you were initially disappointed, I knew this cake would earn a high cherry score. Dozens of Red Herring employees couldn't be wrong. The storefront bakery is great too. They sell croissants that are the size of a small child's head.
